EVENTS

Farewell to Joanne Courtney, Sat 10 Sept @ 9pm

What a hurling game in Bray on Saturday evening!

Adult games

Described as the best Scoil performance in many years, there was disappointment at the final whistle although there was also great satisfaction in the quality of hurling played in the intermediate hurling championship Quarter Final v Cuala on Saturday last in Bray.  The game was played at a very high tempo, mostly thanks to the referee who encouraged a free flowing game with the minimum of stoppages.  We reached full time all square and in extra time, Cuala just had enough to secure the win by a goal.  This was certainly a very strong team display but there were several stand out performances with Alistair Cassidy, Eoin Kennedy, Conor & Ruairi Coady as well as Andy Bunyan all showing their skills and commitment on the night.

The minor girls had a good start to their championship on Monday evening. In what was a great all round team performance there was some excellent play from the Ní Bhroin sisters Naoise & Caelinn, Hannah Leahy and some gritty defending by Anna Williams. The Minors were well supported by the U16’s.

The Ladies lost out in their league game v Ranelagh this evening.

Adult Football league games are set for this weekend on both Saturday evening and Sunday morning.  Keep an eye on Facebook / Twitter in case of any late changes.

Support for all games is greatly appreciated by the players and management.

Juveniles

Nursery

Delighted to report that the Nursery will be back in action in the Club this Saturday 3 September from 10am.  The coaches are looking forward to seeing everyone again and new members are always welcome!

Under 9s

Well the GAA madness began again on a sunny Saturday morning, as Scoil Ui Chonaill U9 Hurlers were away to Trinity Gaels. Two great matches with some brilliant scores by both teams. TEAM Jp Courtney/Dave Daly showed fighting spirit coming from behind twice to run out winners. Moment of our game came from a free awarded to Charlie who got up, hit the sliothar to the left which was caught mid air by Liam (skill point) who quickly crossed towards goal with New Boy Conor getting on the end of it to score! Delighted to see Finn, Sophie and Alex Culligan getting stuck in at midfield! Defence of Diarmuid, Aoileann, Ella and Caoimhe holding their own also.

Team Liam Ryan / Ronan Murphy from what I saw second half was their usual display of skill, doggedness and "defence to attack" approach. Delighted to see Luke Murphy keeping their defence busy to allow Adam, Conal and Alan take their scores (although a lot of wides by our team also - need to see more passing boys/girls!).  For first day back - Job well done and great tough team/club to start against - thanks Trinity Gaels. UP SCOIL! (JP)

Under 13 girls

Due to the holidays we only had a panel of thirteen players heading off to Clondalkin last Saturday. Round Towers turned up with twenty three! The girls played their hearts out in intense heat and went in at half time five points up in this first round championship fixture. The second half was another story as Clondalkin emptied their benches and fresh legs began to show and they went storming ahead of us. The girls played gamely on to the end but were beaten. The Round Towers coach came over to the girls and said how impressed she was with their spirit and their football because as she told them that she played a division higher than us in the league. She assured them that there were some future Dublin players on the panel. ~Everyone is back from holidays now and we have a full panel of twenty one for Saturday's game in the club at three when we take on St. Pats. So Paul will be like Gavin using his squad to the best advantage, hopefully with the same result. Niamh Crowe

Girls football championships

Some of our teams have started their championship fixtures and more go ahead next weekend.

A very good result for the Under 16 girls tonight.  They played Templeogue Synge Street and won 6-8 to 3-6.  Their next game is away to Fingallians at 10am on Sunday.

Dublin

Dublin v Kerry

One of the best football games every played in Croke Park was the verdict in the post match discussions in the Club on Sunday.  Fantastic commitment from both the Dublin and Kerry players in this intense and end to end game.  Now we have an All Ireland Football final to look forward to on Sunday 18 September.  Always great to watch the game in full again when you know the winner!  Thanks to Paraic for looking after everyone in the Clubhouse on Sunday evening.

Dublin Ladies v Mayo

What a tense finish to the All Ireland semi final on Saturday evening! There was plenty of drama in the game which saw Dublin come out on top by a point. We now have an All Ireland final to look forward to v Monaghan or Cork on 25th September.

All Ireland Hurling Final Sunday 4 September

As always, the draw for the chance to buy an All Ireland Final ticket takes place on the Thursday evening before the game.  We will have a small number of tickets available, allocated by the Co. LIDL

The Lidl representatives dropped into the Club on Saturday morning to present their cheque for €1,000 to Club Treasurer Eltin Moran.  This money was received from Lidl as we 'topped the poll' among six clubs in the East Wall Road store in their recent Ladies Football promotion. Thanks to everyone who voted for the Club and special mention for Debbie (U10s) and Aideen (Nursery) who made sure that our vote was 'maximised' throughout the promotion.

We're hosting Pilates classes in the Clubhouse from Tuesday 6 September at 8pm.  The classes cost €90 for 6 weeks and are organised by Dublin North Physiotherapy Clinic and are open to all.  Contact Grainne  or Damian at @DNPhysio on Twitter or Facebook for more info.
