Over the next few weeks work will be carried out to revamp the Bar & Clubhouse, we will try our best to keep inconvenience to a minimum but please be patient & work with us to help create a nice place for all members friends & family to enjoy.  It will be necessary to limit access to the Clubhouse over a few days from Thursday 21 April to 8pm on Saturday 23 April.

Adult games

A good start to the Ladies Cup competition with a win in the first round v Na Fianna this evening. A fine team performance in this game to secure the win.  Congratulations to Cathy Delaney who was presented with her Young Ladies Player of the Year award after the game.  Next game is away to Naomh Barrog also in the Cup.

Back to football league action next weekend for the men and the first Saturday evening games for the top divisions.  Support for these games would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone who is thinking about getting back to playing GAA is very welcome - we have a team for everyone!  Contact TJ at 086 8326644

Nursery update – Do a child a favour – Introduce them to Scoil Ui Chonaill nursery

Just over a year ago, we set ourselves the objective of becoming one of the best GAA nurseries in Dublin. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of Joanne and our volunteers, we are well on the way to achieving this aim.   Our next goal is to increase the number of players in the nursery.  If you know of any parents that would like to incorporate more exercise into their childrens’ lives in a fun way, please tell them about Scoil Ui Chonaill. Whether it’s a relative, friend or classmate, they’ll get a warm welcome in the nursery.

Under 8s

The Under 8s moved on from the nursery and we had our first GO game in the cold weather of February with games taking place every week since then.

We have a great crop of Under 8s who are giving their best every week but it is big step up from nursery for all of us - players and managers. We have had stiff opposition from some of the bigger clubs in recent matches but we are progressing with every game, with our hurling match last Saturday (19th March) showing some great performances. The importance of mid week training is becoming apparent in making the step up from nursery to GO games. Turnout for games and training has been very good with a good number of kids also doing the Easter camps and even turning up for a St.Patricks Day puck around.

We have our first football blitz on 2nd April in Oliver Plunketts so we look forward to a good turnout of kids and parents.

Easter Camps

Our Camps provide great fun for our younger members during the holiday break.  Week one was a multi activity camp with the Club open and busy with games, skills, arts and crafts from 9am to 3pm, Monday to Thursday.  There were almost 70 children in attendance during the week.

This week the focus is on hurling with a 3 Day camp from Tuesday - Thursday.  There are 50 young players in attendance enjoying a great week with some lovely dry, although cold, weather which is a pleasant surprise.  Well done to our Club GPO Joanne and her team of coaches for looking after everyone over the past two weeks.

Strictly Come Dancing!!!

We're launching our big fun event on Saturday 23 April to coincide with the Clubhouse re-opening.  The coordinators are holding weekly meetings in the clubhouse on Thursdays from 8.45 – 9.45. We would encourage anybody to attend, even if it is just out of curiosity!

One of the key decisions will be the selection of dancers so anybody who fancies themselves (or wants free dancing lessons!) or has suggestions get in touch ASAP.  Please don't wait to be asked - this is the one to step up and volunteer for.

So keep the evening of Friday June 3rd free in your calendars and get in touch / get yourself to the club on Thursdays!  Looking forward to brainstorming with everyone.

Well done to Hannah Leahy and the Dublin Under 16s team on another good win in the Leinster Championship.

Plenty to look forward to this weekend as the Dublin hurlers have reached the knock out stages of the league and take on Limerick in Parnell Park on Saturday evening.  Then on Sunday, the footballers take on Roscommon in Hyde Park in the last league game of 2016 having already qualified for the semi finals.

Comhghairdeas to Una and Mark on the birth of their son John Laurence Golden!
